At the conclusion of a successful search process, we are proud to announce that Jim Foley of St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, Connecticut, will be the next Head of School at Manlius Pebble Hill School, effective July 1, 2023. The Announcement

In January 2022, Manlius Pebble Hill School began its search for a new Head of School following the announcement that Dave McCusker, head of school since July 2019, would leave the position effective June 2023. With the announcement, the MPH Board of Trustees enlisted the services of renowned independent school search firm Carney Sandoe & Associates to aid in the search. Carney Sandoe was familiar to the school, having conducted the process that brought McCusker to the school.

The announcement was made official on January 21, 2022 with a letter from Board of Trustees President John Mezzalingua, ’85.

The Process

Carney Sandoe conducted a series of interviews and surveys with the MPH community in January and February, including separate sessions for parents, alumni, and various staff groups on campus with the intent of guiding the search based on vision and values for the future of MPH.

In the intervening weeks, Carney Sandoe also created a Position Description document for potential head of school candidates.
