Red House to showcase MPH student productions

A student choreography concert will open Manlius Pebble Hill School’s third season of student performances at the Red House arts and cultural center in Armory Square.

“Time to Dance: A Choreographic Collection,” will be performed at 8 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 15. The program will feature student dancers performing original pieces choreographed by students in a wide range of dance genres. Michele Koziara, chair of the performing arts department and director of dance education at MPH, directs the production and teaches composition as part of the dance curriculum. MPH offers an extensive, full-credit dance program unusual among Central New York high schools.

Time to Dance is the first of five MPH performing arts productions that will be seen on the Red House stage in coming months. These “Schoolhouse at the Red House” productions are a continuation of the school’s unique three-year partnership with the nonprofit arts organization.

The remaining productions will include a vocal ensemble concert, a jazz performance, a drama production and a chamber music concert. Curtain time for all performances is 8 p.m. and admission is free. Red House is located at 201 S. West St., Syracuse.
