The Host Family Experience
International students experience daily American home life and increase their cultural awareness by living with host families. In addition to providing a safe, secure environment, meals, and ensuring transportation to/from school, host families care for their student and consider them to be a part of the family. This arrangement ensures an authentic cultural experience for our international students and also enables them to expand their language proficiency outside of their academic program.
MPH is proud to partner with The Cambridge Network, a CSIET-listed organization, to arrange homestays for students from The People’s Republic of China. Manlius Pebble Hill School directly manages homestay placement for international students from countries other than China.
English Language Instruction
MPH helps international students advance their English Language skills through a reading and writing-intensive curriculum. Rather than offer a traditional ELL course, MPH offers a course titled World Literature for English Language Learners. Students read an assortment of poetry and prose, write in a variety of forms, and learn how to analyze and discuss literature, all at a pace appropriate for second-language learners. This course also focuses on essentials of English pronunciation and idioms as well as the difference between the cultural and academic worlds of international and American students.
Note: Students must demonstrate a specific level of English proficiency to be eligible for admission. We require a TOEFL score of 55 or higher (Grade 9), 65 or higher (Grade 10) and 75 or higher (Grade 11).

International student tuition is inclusive of the academic program, housing, lunch, auxiliary fees, and any applicable agency fees. Students from The People’s Republic of China should contact Cambridge Network for more information.
