Follow-Up Story: Alejandro Cobas

Earlier this month, we brought you a story about Alenjandro Cobas, a young Cuban dancer working with Syracuse City Ballet. World Language instructor Erica Stark has been serving as his interpreter, and our students were helpful in his transition to the Syracuse community.

Alejandro, along with fellow dancer Jose Carlos came as guests during MPH’s National World Languages Week. On March 7th they taught salsa and bachata to Dance I and Dance II students in Upper School with guests from 1st and 2nd Grade Spanish. They also taught salsa, bachata and reggaeton to Upper and Middle school students in the gym during tutorial. Lastly, they visited AP Spanish class to talk about Cuban culture.

Tonight, you can see Alejandro, with Erica translating, on Carrie Lazarus’ Extraordinary Lives segment on News Channel 9 at 8:00 p.m. You’ll even see footage of Alejandro’s solo at the MPH dance studio! Check out some photos below of Alejandro and Jose dancing with our students.
