Get to Know the MPH Modified Basketball Coach

Recently, The Daily Orange published an article about Peter Dourdas, a professional skill development trainer and well-known private basketball coach.  This year, Pete joined the MPH athletics family as our modified boy’s basketball coach.  Director of Athletics Jim Ryan states, “We are so fortunate to have Coach Dourdas working with our youngest basketball players here at MPH. He is a firm believer in doing the little things right. Fundamentals and repetition of them is something he preaches on a regular basis. This article demonstrates the impact he has made on the broader CNY basketball community. I wanted to share this article with our families because that same impact has already been felt with the group he coached this year at MPH.”

Jim goes on to say, “When I got the message that Pete was interested in the open position, I called back immediately to make sure it was actually the Pete Dourdas! He is someone that could very well be coaching at the college level, so the fact that he choose to coach our middle school team was an amazing win for MPH.  He just loves working with the kids and making them better each day.”

MPH values athletics, not just as an extracurricular, but as an important addition to a student’s overall academic experience. Having talented coaching staff and students who are willing to take risks, learn new skills, and work as a team are all part of what make the MPH Effect a reality.
