MPH Suzuki Students Participate in Community “Play-In”

MPH Suzuki violin students Owen Reckess, Alexa Rose Battaglia,  Audrey Ko, Anya Reckess, Taeyang Reid, Adam Sana, Colin Stark, and Eddie Mirakian participated in the annual Community Suzuki Violin Play-In, held Saturday, March 31 at the First Baptist Church in Manlius.  Students from different teachers’ studios in the surrounding area came together for a morning of fun music-making.  Group classes, a mini concert, parent videos from the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and a community pot-luck luncheon rounded out the event.  The Central NY Association of Music Teachers sponsors this event to raise funds for their summer camp scholarship fund.  Event chair and MPH Suzuki teacher Beth Scott pointed out, “Some students don’t have regular group lessons if they come from a smaller studio, so the Play-In provides them with this fun learning experience, as well the opportunity to meet new Suzuki friends.”  Various students remarked about how much fun they had,  enjoying the different teachers’ group lessons, and what a great experience it was to play together with such a large number of violinists on stage.

Many thanks to MPH parent Sophia Battaglia for acting as registrar for the event.

At MPH, our youngest learners are fortunate to have Suzuki strings education as an option in their school day. It’s one of the many ways our performing artists experience the MPH Effect.
