MPH Girls Soccer Team Helps Project Smiles for Ninth Year in a Row
Since 2010, the MPH Girls Varsity Soccer Team, led by Coach Pat Bentley Hoke, has partnered with Projecto Sonrisas, (Project Smiles) an organization providing holiday cheer for girls orphaned by the ongoing unrest in Colombia. Soccer is the connection between MPH and this worthy cause, as its founder, Oscar Vergara, runs the Maxwell Park Summer Soccer League in which MPH participates annually.
This year, the team is sponsoring 86 girls in a commune who range in age from 7 -22. In addition to clothes, the girls are in need of the following:
Ideas for donations:
- summer clothing
- new socks and underwear
- small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, perfume, and lotion
- deodorant
- soap
- brushes and other hair accessories
- toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Q-tips and Band- Aids
- nail polish and makeup
- candy and gum
- jewelry
- small stuffed animals
- any other small gift you can think of!
- Christmas socks are always a big hit!
Year after year, the MPH Girls Soccer Team makes a tremendous difference in the lives of these young children in Colombia. We are proud of their efforts, their kindness, and their global thinking. Please consider being a part of this MPH tradition by donating today.
