Driver Education and SAT Preparation – Online Only

Winter/Spring 2023 – Registration opens November 7 at 8:00 a.m.

Driver Education (Online Class with Optional Drive Sessions)

Driver Education begins January 30 and runs through May 28. Students must be 16 years old by January 30 and possess a valid driving permit. All theory classes will be offered through Google Classroom. Theory classes will be offered weekly as a combination of pre-recorded chapter reviews, a posted assignment, and quiz to be completed each. There will be an opportunity for the students to connect with the instructor during live sessions offered weekly as a question/answer session (times TBD).

Textbooks will be required and provided, and there will be a $50 fee charged to your account if the book is not returned at the end of the course. Books will be available for in-person pickup at MPH, or you may choose the shipping option (during registration) for a $10 fee to mail the textbook to your home.

The 24 hours of in-vehicle instruction must be completed under the supervision of a parent/guardian holding a valid NY State Driver’s License. Students must complete a driving session each week. We will help with the lesson goals, and you will be able to contact a Driver Education instructor for additional guidance, if needed. A drive log must be submitted each week. Details on limited in-person drive sessions at MPH are listed below.

Our course requires 1.5 hours of class work assignments and 1.5 hours of driving lessons per week. Please be aware of the time requirements prior to registering.

Upon completion of the course, students will receive an MV-285 Student Certificate of Completion from New York State. This certificate includes the NY pre-licensing 5-hour course requirements, an insurance reduction certificate, and allows 17-year-old drivers to upgrade to a senior license.

Our goal is to teach our students to be the most responsible, safe drivers possible.

Limited Drive Sessions available for an additional fee of $225

We will have a limited amount of drive sessions available during the course. Each session consists of an evening drive session during the week for 1.5 hours each day. Choose a set schedule of 6 drive sessions, to equal 9 hours of in-car lessons with a driver education instructor (Monday/Wednesday, 4:00-5:30 or 5:45-7:15 p.m. for three weeks). Three students per car per session.  Space is limited.
