Driver Education and SAT Preparation – Online Only

Driver Education (Online Class with Optional Drive Sessions)

Driver Education begins June 27 and runs through August 21. Students must be 16 years old by June 27 and possess a valid driving permit. All theory classes will be offered through Google Classroom. Theory classes will be offered weekly as a combination of pre-recorded chapter reviews and posted assignments and quizzes to be completed each week for eight weeks. There will be an opportunity (optional) for the students to connect with the instructor during live sessions offered weekly as a question/answer session (TBD).

Textbooks will be required and provided by MPH and must be returned at the end of the course. Books will be available for in-person pickup at MPH (in June) or may be mailed to your home for a $10 fee.

The 24 hours of in-vehicle instruction must be completed under the supervision of a parent/guardian holding a valid NY State Driver’s License. Students must complete a driving session each week. We will help with the lesson goals, and you will be able to contact a Driver Education instructor for additional guidance, if needed. A drive log must be submitted each week.

Our summer course requires three hours of theory class work assignments and a total of 24 hours of driving during the 8-week course. Please be aware of the time requirements prior to registering.

Upon completion of the course, students will receive an MV-285 Student Certificate of Completion from New York State. This certificate includes the NY pre-licensing 5-hour course requirements, an insurance reduction certificate, and allows 17-year-old drivers to upgrade to a senior license.

Our goal is to teach our students to be the most responsible, safe drivers possible.

Limited Drive Sessions available for an additional fee of $140

We will have a limited amount of drive sessions available during the 8 weeks of the course. Each session consists of a morning or early afternoon drive session during the week for 1.5 hour each day. Choose a set schedule of 4 drive sessions, to equal 6 hours of in-car lessons with a driver education instructor. Three students per car per session. Space is limited.
