MPH senior wins National Merit Lockheed Martin scholarship
Benjamin E. Parks of Hamilton, a senior at Manlius Pebble Hill school in DeWitt, has won a corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship award.
He is one of an estimated 1,000 high school seniors across the country who have won these awards, which are financed by about 200 corporations, company foundations and other business organizations.
Parks, who is interested in studying computer science, has been award the National Merit Lockheed Martin Academic Scholarship.
Winners were selected from students who advanced to the finalist level in the National Merit Scholarship competition and met criteria of their scholarship sponsors. These vary but include students whose parents work at a company, residents of the communities the company serves, or students who plan to pursue college majors or careers the sponsor wishes to encourage.
