New Manlius Pebble Hill expansion ready for start of school

DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Manlius Pebble Hill School will have its brand new arts and athletics complex ready for the opening day of school on Tuesday.

The school conceived the idea a year ago and only broke ground this past spring.

The major transformation of the MPH campus is due in large part to the generosity of the Mezzalingua family, which has a long history with the school.

“It’s fantastic, speaks to the development of the school. It’s great for our community its great for our students, very excited.” John Mezzalingua, MPH Board President tells NewsChannel 9.

The old elementary school size gym is replaced by a brand new, modern, high school sized gym.

Not only will they be able to pull a divider and hold two sports teams practices at the same time, it will also allow them to expand the physical education offerings.

PE Department Chair Don Ridall says, “We can run two classes at once or in the same class you can have a skills station on one side and the other side more activities.”

“We specifically designed for what was going to happen in the program.” Says Chair of the MPH Visual Art and Design Department Teresa Henderson.

Head of School Jim Dunaway adds, “To carry out a program you need facilities and we have the great program, we have great students, we have great faculty, not all our facilities were great, they had been let go and now we’re taking care of that.”

MPH held a dedication ceremony for the new expansion on Thursday evening.
