MPH Seniors Named National Merit Finalists

Manlius Pebble Hill Seniors Jack Murray and Grace Zhang have advanced to the finalist round in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.  They were selected on the basis of their scores on the PSAT exam, which each year is taken by 1.6 million students.  According to Nationalmerit.com, all winners of Merit Scholarship® awards are chosen from the Finalist group based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments. A variety of information is available for NMSC selectors to evaluate: the Finalist’s academic record, information about the school’s curricula and grading system, two sets of test scores, the high school official’s written recommendation, information about the student’s activities and leadership, and the Finalist’s own essay. Finalists will be announced in the spring, when some 7,500 National Merit® Scholarships will be awarded worth over $31 million.
