New ABA basketball team coming to Syracuse this fall
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Basketball fans in Syracuse will have anew team to root for come this fall.
The Syracuse Stallions will be the newest team in the American Basketball Association coming in October. The ABA is a semi-professional basketball league running from October through April.
Sunday, April 29th, officially began the process of forming the team.
Led by head coach Pete Dourdas, a former OCC assistant and professional basketball player in Greece, the Stallions held its first of three tryout sections aiming to narrow the team down to 10-12 players.
The team is mostly looking for players with collegiate experience. The next two tryouts come in May and June. A team invite-only camp will be in July and the final roster will be selected from that group.
Tryouts, team practices and games will be held at Manlius Pebble Hill School in Syracuse.
