Manlius Pebble Hill School Golfer Wins Invitational

Johnny Gruninger, a freshman at Manlius Pebble Hill School, was a standout at last weekend’s Mike Heib Memorial Tournament hosted by Corning Country Club. The invitational tournament featured 96 of the best high school golfers in New York State. Johnny shot a 69, which was 1 under par, to win the overall competition by 3 strokes.

Gruninger is no stranger to victory – last summer he won the Syracuse District Junior Classic by an astonishing 14 strokes, then moved on to capture the Boys 12-14 division title at Falcon’s Fire 2017 in Orlando, FL. In the fall he was awarded both the Junior Player of the Year (Ages 18 & Under) and the Boys Player of the Year (14 & Under) by the Syracuse District Golf Association.  Johnny won the SDGA Junior Classic Championship and represented the Syracuse District at the Williamson Cup, Interdistrict Championships, and NYS High School Championships. He is also a member of the undefeated golf team at Manlius Pebble Hill.
