The Corning Country Club recently hosted a junior golf tournament named in memory of longtime club pro Mike Heib, who died in 2016.

Ninety-six young golfers, 76 boys and 20 girls, took part in the event.

Johnny Gruninger, from Manlius Pebble Hill High School, captured the boys’ division with a 69, while Alexandra Tomasso, from Waverly High School, carded an 83 to win the girls’ division.

“Mike was a devoted champion of youth golf, and we are delighted to continue to support high school golfers from the area,” said Heib’s widow, Cynthia Wickwire Heib. “Our daughter Ainsley and I are proud to carry on Mike’s dedication to the game of golf.”
