Senior Presents at National Conference
Senior Eva Englich, on behalf of the Green Avengers, placed MPH on a national stage! With the support of the Syracuse University Chemistry Department, Eva was invited to present at two poster presentations during the American Chemical Society Nation Conference in Orlando, Florida earlier this month. Over 16,000 chemistry professionals attend this conference annually as a way to share ideas and advance scientific and technical knowledge.
Eva’s poster topic was the work of the Green Avengers and what they have done to impact and engage the community. While Eva is not planning on a career in chemistry, she was thrilled to have the opportunity to talk with people from different organizations and compare the work they are doing. “This was especially cool with other University chem clubs, ” she remarked. “Meeting all of these people at the conference was very inspirational. It was clear how hard they have worked on their research and how passionate they are about their topics.”
In talking about her time at the conference, Eva said, “The best experience of the conference was when I was presenting at Sci-Mix and we (the club) were invited to the flagship climate march in NYC. Although the march is the week before APs and we cannot go, it was a good feeling being invited to an event of this size.”
Eva will be attending Syracuse University and studying international relations and modern languages in the fall, and will spend her first semester of in Madrid, Spain.
